Adding Banknotes
to Your Collection
To start working with Currency Keeper Deluxe,
you will need to add information on your banknotes to your collection
file. There are two tools you can use to enter your collection.
A continuous series of bills can be entered with the Group Add feature.
Or, you can enter single or duplicate bills by clicking on the Add
button on the bottom of the Collection Entry Window.
When you click Add, the next
available record number will be indicated. Record numbers are assigned
sequentially to each new record as created. A pop-up list appears,
offering you a choice of any of the banknote denominations available
for the particular program database you are running. At the top
of this list is the option to Cancel Entry and return to
the Collection Entry Window for other choices. The Miscellaneous
Entry option allows you to enter a banknote whose denomination
is not found on the list.
Banknote Information
If a valid denomination, series, and Friedberg
number are selected, the screen will display the current market
value for that banknote in all available grades.
Quantity
Enter the quantity of banknotes you wish
to record. By pressing the <tab> key, you will select the
default quantity of 1, or you can click the up or down arrows to
enter any number up to 9999 for duplicate banknotes. Keep in mind
that all banknotes included in this record should have the same
grade and original cost.
Condition or Grade
After entering the quantity, press the <tab>
key or <enter> in order to select the condition from
the pull-down list that appears when you click the down arrow. Select
a grade from the list or choose the Other option to enter
a grade not found on the list. You may wish to purposely enter a
miscellaneous grade that you have created yourself. Any banknote
with a miscellaneous grade will not be affected by the price updating
process. The miscellaneous grade that you choose is, of course,
entirely up to you. We urge all users
of this program to use good judgment in their response, since the
overall calculated value of the collection is based on this information.
Year Purchased
The current year appears in the next entry
field as the default entry. You may enter any other purchase year
that you wish for record keeping purposes.
From
You have the option of entering an eight-character
code representing from whom you purchased the banknote. Because
of space limitations, you might devise a list of sellers and denote
each one by a different code.
Total Cost
Enter the amount you paid for the full quantity
of banknotes in this record. Any figure up to $99,999.99 is accepted.
For example, if you bought two of the same banknote for $5.00 each,
enter $10.00 as the Total Cost.
Total Value
If you entered a valid grade, the Total
Value is calculated automatically (multiplied by the quantity you
entered) and displayed. If you do not agree with Currency Keeper
Deluxe's listed price, you may, at any time, enter a figure different
from that shown. Type in your own value (up to $99,999.99) or press
the <tab> key to accept the program's supplied value.
Location
Use the Location field to indicate where
this particular banknote is stored. You may enter any code up to
10 characters if you wish. For example, 1D-13 could stand for Album
of Dollars #13.
Comment
The Comment field provides space for an optional
unlimited length entry. Either a short note such as "excellent
color" or a longer statement can be entered.
Saving Your Entry
Click the Save button at any time
while adding information in order to record that item. You can always
change or delete any record that you have entered. Moreover, information
about a banknote you have sold can be entered now or later.
